Catching up on recent news, both Congressman Brad Schneider and former Congressman Robert Dold have slightly more than one million dollars in campaign funds in their accounts available for use, according to their financial reporting ending December 31, 2013.
For those who enjoy reporting campaigns as horse races, Dold has come from behind having left the starting gate after the first quarter elapsed, while Schneider ran all four quarters. Dold has roughly $6,000.00 more in the bank than Schneider, even though Schneider managed to somewhat out-raise Dold the past two quarters.
Both are unopposed during the primary elections.
Both campaigns did their best to spin their fundraising prowess to their advantage.
Can we consider the nose to nose fundraising race a precursor of another photo finish between these two candidates come November when vote totals are tallied? During the last go around with these two, Dold out-raised Schneider and lost by less than 4,000 votes.
Any predictions this time? Mine is Dold 52%, Schneider 48%.
