Senator Kirk Undergoes Gallstone Surgery

On Saturday, December 7, 2013, Senator Kirk checked himself into Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, complaining of stomach pains.  On Monday, December 9, 2013, Senator Kirk underwent surgery for removal of his gallbladder. He is expected to return to work in a week.

What is most amazing, is that Senator Kirk appeared at a Lake County Republican Federation event as the featured speaker the night before his hospitalization. Senator Kirk that evening answered questions from moderator Larry Falbe and audience members for over an hour, at times cracking jokes and seemed to be in fine spirits.

There was no evidence that Senator Kirk was in any pain that evening. If he was, he did a marvelous job of disguising it.

Best wishes to the Senator for a quick recovery and a productive return to work.
